Shipping and packing guidelines

Alpha-Liberty uses UPS as our primary shipping service. If you would like your package shipped another way, please contact our office at 513-777-1525. Internationally shipped packages are subject to additional charges.

Sensitive, delicate parts can easily be broken during the shipping process because of poor packing. Below are tips for ensuring your equipment arrives at our lab without damage.

Packaging balances and scales for shipment

It is critical to pack your balance or scale properly prior to shipping to prevent further damage. Follow these packing guidelines to ensure the protection of your unit:

  • Remove accessories, such as weighing plates and adapters. Place these accessories in a bag and include in the package near the top of the box.
  • Secure any movable features. Glass doors and base plates should be secured by tape.
  • Use proper packing material. Pack the unit in the original packaging, if possible.
  • Double-box the unit and use double layers of loose fill. Equipment should be secured in containers designed to withstand the shipping process and should not move inside the box.
  • Include a copy of your purchase order with specific instructions for repair, including return shipping information.

Packaging weights for shipment

It is important that your calibration weights arrive at our lab undamaged. To pack your weights safely, follow these steps:

  • Secure your weights. Single weights should be individually wrapped. Weight sets need to be secure within their case. All weights need to be secure in a container designed to withstand the shipping process.
  • Use proper packing material. Single weights should be packaged individually in a vial, pouch, or wrapped in plastic and then bubble wrap or foam. Weight case sets should be put in a plastic bag and wrapped in bubble wrap or foam. [Note: do not use packing peanuts as they create static.]
  • Separate heavy weights. Large weights (20 lbs and 10 kg) should be packaged in individual boxes.
  • Include a copy of your purchase order with specific instructions, including the next calibration due date and return shipping information.

Call our office at 513-777-1525 for additional packing instructions or assistance with the packing process.
